Runway is a web app that generates video, images and audio from text prompts and reference images. It runs on a monthly credit system.
A strong pick for generative video, but the free plan is a one-time 125 credits, so real use means a paid plan.
Makes dialogue-heavy edits much faster, but it is less suited to complex visual editing, and free exports are watermarked and capped at 720p.
FreemiumBest for podcasters and talking-head video creators who would rather edit text than a timeline
Useful for avatar and translated videos, but the free plan is limited to three watermarked videos a month of up to one minute each.
FreemiumBest for marketers and creators who want presenter videos or localized versions without a camera
Paid plans start low, but the free plan includes no monthly credits and no commercial license, so it is more of a trial than a working tier.
FreemiumBest for hobbyists and social creators who want cheap, quick AI clips
